Your website is not your digital presence

The site is one surface. The listings, the reviews, the domain and the email reputation are the rest — and they are usually the ones that are broken.

Most small businesses I look at have a reasonable website and a broken presence around it: a business listing with the old phone number, a domain renewing on somebody’s personal card, email landing in spam because nothing was ever configured to say the mail is really from them.

Fixing the site is the visible job. Fixing the rest is the one that changes how many calls you get.

Where to look first: search your own business the way a customer would, from a phone you are not signed in on. The old address, the dead phone number, the review you never answered, the “did you mean…” spelling of your name — that is your presence, and it is doing more of your first impressions than your homepage is.
